Waifu forever, 2024, Video Performance, 05:30 min

In this experimental video performance, Sideras cooks up a feast through the use of original spoken word and video footage, in their effort to preserve throwaway moments of importance, imbued with their queer domesticities.

This video performance is inspired by the zine ‘Waifu forever’, Sideras created in 2023 which is equal parts a love letter to their husband and themselves.

Waifu (fandom slang)

A female* character in anime, manga, video games and other related media, for whom you harbour romantic feelings and/or sexual attraction. You are so attracted to that character that you would marry them.

*female: inclusive of trans and/or cisgendered women, girls, trans-femme and non-binary people and other diverse gender identities centred around femininity

The video performance debuted at the Hidden 2024 exhibition, in London at October 2024.
